KNOWLEDGE NUGGET:
The verb to “unfriend” someone is more than 350 years older than where we commonly think of it today – Facebook. The word itself was first used in the 1200s, but as a verb it can be traced back to the 17th century, meaning essentially the same thing it does today – minus the internet. In 1659, Thomas Fuller wrote “I hope, sir, that we are not mutually unfriended by this difference which hath happened betwixt us.”
