The average price received by farmers for corn during September in Iowa was $3.72 per bushel according to the latest USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service – Agricultural Prices report. This was down 19 cents from the August price but 43 cents above September 2018.
The September 2019 average price received by farmers for soybeans, at $8.14 per bushel, was down 14 cents from the August price and 30 cents below the September 2018 price.
The September average oat price per bushel was $3.38, up 13 cents from August and 65 cents above September 2018.
All hay prices in Iowa averaged $117.00 per ton in September. This was up $1.00 from the August price and $5.00 above the September 2018 price. The September 2019 alfalfa hay price averaged $123.00, up $2.00 from the previous month and $9.00 above September 2018. The average price received for other hay during September was $99.00 per ton. This was up $2.00 from the August price but $4.00 below the September 2018 price.
The average price was $20.40 per cwt for milk, up $1.10 from the August price and $3.00 above one year ago. Prices received for milk cows for dairy herd replacement averaged $1,280 per head as of October 1, 2019.
