June Dairy Month Highlights Dairy Industry

Maurice, Iowa — This month — June — is Dairy Month in the United States.

The June Dairy Month tradition began in 1937 as a way to help distribute extra milk when cows started on pasture in the summer. Now 84 years later the rich tradition of June Dairy Month continues with communities, companies, and people from all over the United States participating.

Adam Maassen is the president of the Western Iowa Dairy Alliance. He tells us about his family’s involvement in the group, and tells dairy farmers that they’re all in this together.

Maassen tells consumers that milk is a safe and wholesome product in whatever form you get it, whether it’s milk, cheese, ice cream, or any of the multitude of other products that come from milk.

The Western Iowa Dairy Alliance says they are a unified voice for western Iowa dairy producers to support farm families, engage with consumers, advocate for the industry, and build the next generation of leaders. Find more information at www.wiadairy.com.
