NPB task force looks to help control foreign diseases

IARN — Foreign animal diseases (FADs) are a massive threat to any livestock, but they’re especially deadly for pigs. Fortunately, we haven’t seen many FAD outbreaks in the U.S., which is largely due to the efforts of the industries themselves. National Pork Board’s (NPB) foreign animal disease research task force brings insights into the pork industry from veterinarians, producers, and industry experts. Dr. Lisa Becton, NPB’s director of swine health, said this group has a focus on foreign animal disease control.
