Primghar, Iowa — Cow-calf producers who experienced drought conditions in 2021 are invited to attend a “Moving Forward After Drought” meeting, hosted by the Extension service.
ISU Extension and Outreach will actually host three drought meetings – Jan. 20th at Emmetsburg, Jan. 24th at Estherville, and Jan. 25th at Royal. All meetings are from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and feature identical topics.
Beth Doran, a beef specialist with ISU Extension and Outreach says that this area of Northwest Iowa was hard hit by drought the majority of 2021, and these meetings are designed to help producers prepare for 2022.
She says they’ll cover repairing pastures and establishing cover crops, the cow-calf outlook and benchmarking, and financial assistance for cow-calf producers.
According to Doran, there is no cost to attend, but participants should preregister several days prior to the meeting they plan to attend.
Preregister with the following ISU Extension and Outreach county office: Emmetsburg meeting (712-852-2865); Estherville meeting (712-362-3434); or Royal meeting (712-262-2264).
