U.S. pork trending higher as beef exports total lower than last year

IARN — U.S. pork exports remained robust in February, achieving double-digit increases over last year in both volume and value, according to data released by USDA and compiled by the U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF). February pork exports totaled nearly 222,000 metric tons (mt), up 11% from a year ago, while export value increased 10% to $596 million. USMEF President and CEO Dan Halstrom said Mexico was once again the leading driver of this growth, but noted that markets such as the Caribbean, Central America, and the ASEAN region were also key contributors.
