American State Bank Warns of Phone Scam Targeting Customers

Northwest Iowa (Sioux County Radio) — American State Bank is warning customers about a scam involving callers falsely claiming to represent the bank.

According to a notice shared by the bank, scammers are contacting individuals and may spoof phone numbers to make it appear as though the call is coming directly from American State Bank.

The bank says customers should be cautious of any unexpected or unusual calls, especially if the caller requests sensitive information.

Officials emphasize that customers should hang up if something feels off and contact the bank directly using a trusted phone number. They also warn not to rely on caller ID, as scammers can manipulate displayed numbers.

American State Bank notes that it typically contacts customers only during normal business hours. Calls received outside those hours should be treated with extra caution.

Anyone who believes they may have received a suspicious call is encouraged to reach out to their local American State Bank branch directly.

American State Bank has banks in Sioux Center (2), Alton, Alvord, Granville, Hull, Hospers, Orange City, and Sioux Falls.
