Sheldon, Iowa — A Michigan man has been arrested on a felony drug charge after a traffic stop in Sheldon.

Sheldon Police filed a criminal complaint against 29-year-old Jason Huddleston of Westland, Michigan. Authorities accuse Huddleston of possessing several grams of marijuana. He was arrested last week.

In his statement, the officer says that during a stop for an equipment violation, the officer smelled the odor of marijuana coming from Huddleston’s vehicle. The officer says they found over 42 and a half grams of marijuana in various containers and jars. The “42.5 gram” amount is significant because that’s the threshold at which the offense is considered a felony.

Huddleston was charged with failure to affix a drug tax stamp, a class D felony. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison. He also faces a misdemeanor count of second offense marijuana possession.

He faces an initial appearance on July 14th.

Huddleston was booked into the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar, and was released on the same day after posting bond.
