Des Moines, Iowa (RI) — A free festival celebrating the 250th anniversary of American independence and Iowa’s agricultural heritage will be held Saturday at the Iowa Capitol Complex.

America’s Harvest Festival begins at 1 p.m. and will feature historical reenactments, displays, live music, Iowa vendors, and food.

Gov. Kim Reynolds says the event will showcase how Iowa agriculture has helped shape the nation.

Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig, co-chair of Iowa’s America 250 Task Force, says holding the festival during harvest season is especially fitting.

Lt. Gov. Chris Cournoyer, also a co-chair of the task force, says the festival will be the capstone of their work.

Festival activities will continue through sunset. A complete schedule is available at America’s Harvest Festival website.
