Celebrating 4-H From Calves And Canning To Astronomy And Robots

Ames, Iowa (RI) — National 4-H Week just wrapped up. It’s a week to recognize the accomplishments of the program, which reaches more than 120,000 young people in Iowa every year. Emily Saveraid, executive director of the Iowa 4-H Foundation, says there were many activities this past week to celebrate 4-H.

The organization has a host of different types of clubs within the club, starting as young as kindergarten and running through high school.

While 4-H has its roots in agriculture and has a broad membership in rural areas, it’s also very popular in urban schools with a range of programs encompassing science, robotics and more.

You can learn more about 4-H programs through your nearest ISU Extension and Outreach office.
