Spencer, Iowa (KUOO) – Those attending this year’s Clay County Fair will notice a considerable reduction in shade. Fair Manager and CEO Jason Brockshus says emerald ash borer was hard on them this year.
He says the dead and dying trees posed a potential liability issue should a tree or branch come down on a building or worse yet, a fair goer.
Brockshus says the Clay County Fair’s charitable trust is establishing the “plant the future” campaign to raise funds to plant new trees on the grounds.
