Okoboji, Iowa (KUOO) — A man from Madrid, Iowa, faces charges in connection with a domestic disturbance early Sunday in Okoboji.
Police were called to Lake Okoboji Resort around 3:30 a.m. and discovered a 34-year-old woman had been physically and sexually assaulted. Further investigation led to the arrest of 38-year-old Robert Welder of Madrid, Iowa. He was arrested on charges of sexual abuse in the third degree, a class “C” felony, as well as domestic abuse assault and public intoxication, both simple misdemeanors.
He has since been released from jail after posting bond.
The Arnolds Park and Spirit Lake Police Departments assisted in the investigation.
