Sioux Center, Iowa (Sioux County Radio) — Dordt University dedicated the Rozeboom Family Athletic Center and its newly completed spaces Saturday during a ceremony that brough together students, alumni, families, and major donors.

The project, which broke ground six months ago, was designed to improve the overall experience for practices and games.

Dordt Athletic Director Darin Keizer thanked the many people involved in completing the project and noted the pace at which the facility came together.

Keizer also discussed “The Defender Way,” a philosophy he says drives Dordt athletics and reminds players and coaches where their gifts come from.

New spaces in the athletic center include new classrooms, a renovated Vos Gymnasium, a new overlook area, and new Peoples Bank concessions.

Dordt President Erik Hoekstra said the athletic center project represents the completion of one phase of campus development rather than the end of future improvements.

The dedication ceremony ended with a prayer and the singing of the Doxology led by members of the Dordt choir and those in attendance.

Following the dedication, Dordt hosted an alumni event as part of Defender Days weekend.
