Sioux Falls, South Dakota – Dr. Mara Groom, a family medicine and obstetric physician at Lakes Regional Healthcare, has been named the new Chief Medical Officer for Avera Medical Group.
Dr. Groom also currently serves as the lead physician at Lakes Regional Family Medicine and is a board member of the Iowa Academy of Family Physicians.
According to a press release, Dr. Groom will transition away from her clinical practice to assume her new duties in February. It goes on to say that her patients will be transferred to other medical providers at Lakes Regional Family Medicine. Patients will receive letters regarding the transition of care.
Kevin Post, DO and Chief Medical Officer for Avera Health, says Dr. Groom will focus on physician relationships, clinician well-being and engagement, quality care, service lines and leadership development.
Dr. Groom attended college at Wartburg College in Waverly and received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Des Moines University. She recently received her MBA from the University of Tennessee.
