Sioux City, Iowa — An Emmetsburg man has pled guilty in federal court to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a protected location. 57-year-old David Specketer entered the plea Thursday in U.S. District Court in Sioux City. He had previously been convicted of conspiracy to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine in 2014.
At a plea hearing, Specketer admitted that on April 15th of this year, law enforcement attempted to arrest him at his home in Emmetsburg on a warrant from a 2022 case in Woodbury County for possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine. Specketer attempted to go back into his residence but was apprehended. Authorities then found about one ounce of meth. At the hearing, Specketer admitted he intended to distribute all or some of the drug to another person. Specketer’s residence is within 1,000 feet of the Emmetsburg High School.
Sentencing is pending the completion of a pre-sentence report. Specketer remains in the custody of a U.S. Marshal in the meantime.
