February Goes Down As Warmer And Much Drier Than Normal In Sheldon

Sheldon, Iowa — The month of February 2026 was warmer and much drier than normal in Sheldon.

According to the weather facts collected by KIWA Radio, the highest high was 64 degrees, recorded on February 17th. The lowest high temperature was 23 degrees, recorded on February 22nd.

The lowest low in the month was -4 on both February 22nd and 23rd. Those were the only below-zero lows in February. The highest low was 36 on the 17th.

The average high for the month was 43. The normal is 30. The average low was 17. The normal is 12. The average temperature as-a-whole for the month was 30 degrees, and normally it’s 21.

We received just 0.07 of an inch of precipitation for February. A normal February sees 0.76, so we were below normal for the month by 69 hundredths of an inch. Year-to-date precip has been 0.27 of an inch. Normal year-to-date precipitation would be 1.41 inches, so we’re 1.14 inches below normal on the year.
