Rock Valley and Rock Rapids, Iowa (Sioux County Radio) — The City of Rock Valley and the Lyon County Fair Association are among eight Iowa recipients in the latest round of disaster-recovery awards from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley said the more than $7.7 million in federal support will help communities continue repairing damage from recent severe storms and move forward with long-term recovery. He said he will keep working in the Senate to ensure that Iowans receive the support they need.
Rock Valley will receive $3,090,375 for private-property debris removal due to severe storms, flooding, straight-line winds and tornadoes in 2024. The disaster caused significant damage to private property, with 123 residential properties found to be substantially damaged and posing an immediate threat to residents.
The Lyon County Fair Association has been awarded $217,571.12 to repair or replace its park racetrack, also damaged in the 2024 storms.
Nearby, the City of Spencer will receive $211,536.60 for repairs to building exteriors, interiors, contents, and exterior sites. Grand Avenue Community Outreach in Spencer will receive $472,449.64 to repair or replace contents and equipment.
The cities of Davenport and Kellogg are also receiving funding from this latest round from FEMA as are the Western Iowa Power Cooperative and the Iowa Department of Transportation for various severe weather incidents.
