Hull Woman Sentenced in Sioux County Child Endangerment Case

Hull, Iowa (Sioux County Radio) — A Hull woman has been sentenced in Sioux County District Court in a child endangerment case stemming from an incident at a Sioux Center daycare last fall.

The Sioux County Attorney’s Office says 27-year-old Kathryn Elizabeth Pine of Hull was sentenced Monday, March 2nd, after pleading guilty to Child Endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor.

The case dates back to October 15th, 2025 when Pine was working as an employee at a local preschool in Sioux Center. According to court records, Pine placed a child in a headlock and pushed the child’s head against a cot, leaving a mark on the back of the child’s head.

Following an investigation by the Sioux Center Police Department, Pine was originally accused of Child Endangerment Causing Bodily Injury, which was filed as a felony.

Court records show that on February 16th, 2026, Pine entered a guilty plea to the reduced charge of Child Endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor, as part of a plea agreement with the state.

At sentencing on March 2nd, the court ordered Pine to serve 365 days in the Sioux County Jail with all but 90 days suspended.

She was also ordered to pay an $855 fine, a 15 percent surcharge, and court costs, as well as being placed on probation with the Iowa Department of Corrections for up to two years.

As part of the sentence, Pine is prohibited from working in childcare or any employment involving the care of children other than her own.

The Sioux County Attorney’s Office prosecuted the case with assistance from the Sioux Center Police Department.
