ILCC: One Student Athlete And Bus Driver Remain Hospitalized Following Feb. 11th Fatal Crash

Estherville, Iowa (KUOO) — Iowa Lakes Community College this morning provided an update on those involved in the bus crash involving members of the school’s baseball team.

The February 11th crash in Calhoun county claimed the life of 19-year-old Carter Johnson of Rapid City, South Dakota.

In a post on the college’s Facebook page, school officials say that as of this morning, one student-athlete and the driver of the bus remain hospitalized, while other team members are continuing their recovery and receiving appropriate care. The post goes on to say that out of respect for the privacy of the individuals and their families, no additional medical details will be released at this time.

It goes on to say that Iowa Lakes’ commitment to each student and family affected remains unwavering, adding that faculty, staff, coaches, and support teams continue alongside them, providing care, flexibility, and resources.

College officials add that they continue to grieve the loss of Carter and surround his family with support.
