Inwood Firefighters Extinguish Grove, Field Fire

Inwood, Iowa — A grove of trees and some corn stubble was damaged in a fire on Monday, February 23, 2026, near Inwood.

According to Inwood Fire Chief Troy Van Beek, at about 2:45 p.m., the Inwood Fire Department was called to the report of a field and grove on fire near 250th Street and Cleveland Avenue, a mile south and a mile east of Inwood.

When they got there, the chief says the fire department saw about five acres of cornstalks and the grove on fire.

Van Beek says no injuries were reported to people, pets, or livestock.

He says a brush pile fire got away from those attending it and started the grove and field on fire.

Chief Van Beek reports that the damage was limited to the trees and stubble.

He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about an hour.
