Iowa (RI) — Gasoline prices are slowly falling in Iowa, but they’re also at an all-time high for this time of year.
AAA Iowa spokesperson Brian Ortner says the statewide average price fell three cents per gallon over the past week, though October prices remain historically high.
Gasoline is now averaging $4.22 per gallon in Iowa, while the national average is 12 cents higher.
AAA’s survey also shows diesel prices continuing to rise. Iowa’s average diesel price is now $6.07 per gallon, up five cents from a week ago.
Ortner says global events continue to put pressure on energy markets.
According to AAA, Dubuque has the state’s highest average gasoline price at $4.39 per gallon, while the lowest average price is in Des Moines at $4.15 per gallon.
