Iowa (KUOO) — Iowa remains on pace for a second consecutive year with fewer than 300 traffic fatalities, though safety officials say there is still plenty of time for that trend to change.
Kevin Krull of the Iowa State Patrol says Iowa’s fatality numbers remain below the five-year average, but the final months of the year, including the holiday traveling season, will be critical.
Krull says drivers can help keep fatalities down by obeying speed limits, wearing seat belts, avoiding impaired driving, and complying with Iowa’s hand-free driving law by not using cell phones or other electronic devices behind the wheel.
