Knowledge Nugget:
From the new book, 50th Anniversary of the Prairie Museum by Tom Whorley:
The SHS Class of 1920 decided to have a high school annual. When a name couldn’t be decided upon, they held a contest, which was won by 8th grader, Beth Powell. Her winning name was “Orab”, a combination of the school’s colors – Orange & Black. The moniker took hold and to this day remains the name of the annual, and the Sheldon sports teams.
