Lester, Iowa– A Lester man was taken to the hospital after a crash near Lester on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 7:15 a.m., 40-year-old Andrew Blauwet of Lester was driving a 2008 Toyota pickup southbound on K30 or Dove Avenue, about two miles south of Lester.
The report says that Blauwet lost traction due to icy roads. His pickup entered the west ditch, struck the ditch, and overturned/rolled over before coming to a rest on its tires facing south.
The Lyon County Ambulance took Blauwet to Avera Merrill Pioneer Hospital in Rock Rapids.
Blauwet’s Toyota pickup sustained $9000 in damages, which was enough to total the vehicle.
