Marcus Woman Taken To Hospital After Accident Involving MOC/FV School Bus

Maurice, Iowa– A Marcus woman was taken to the hospital after an accident with a school bus near Maurice on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.

The Iowa State Patrol reports that at about 7:20 a.m., 35-year-old Amber Grantham of Marcus was driving a 2018 Mazda westbound on 470th Street, about a mile east of Maurice. They tell us that 76-year-old Lloyd TeBrink of Alton was eastbound on 470th in a 2023 Bluebird school bus owned by the MOC/Floyd Valley School District.

The report says that Grantham crossed the center line and struck the bus in the front driver’s side corner and then again at the rear driver’s side tire. Grantham then veered left. The car rolled, and came to rest in the field.

The school bus did have students on it, but no students were injured, and neither was the driver.

The Sioux Center Ambulance took Grantham to Orange City Health System Hospital.

Grantham’s Mazda sustained $7,500 in damages, which was enough total it, and MOC/Floyd Valley’s school bus sustained $10,000 in damages.

Grantham was charged with driving on the wrong side of the roadway, no proof of insurance, failure to maintain control, and failure to wear a safety belt.
