May City Accident Sends Two To Sheldon Hospital

May City, Iowa– Two passengers in an Owatonna, MN teen’s vehicle were taken to the hospital after an accident near May City on Sunday, June 29, 2025.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 8:45 p.m., 18-year-old Alia Howlader of Owatonna, MN was driving a 2014 Chevy Equinox westbound on 230th Street, about 5/8 of a mile southwest of May City.

The report says that Howlader attempted to traverse the curve, but was going too fast and could not stop. The car left the roadway and struck the ditch embankment.

An ambulance took two passengers, Madison Mahlum of Owatonna and Ayala Lopez of May City to Sanford Sheldon.

The Chevy Equinox sustained $10,000 in damages, and was considered totaled.
