Mayor Of Milford Seeking Court Action Against His Own City & Board Of Adjustment

Milford, Iowa – A resident of the Dickinson County town of Milford who also happens to be the city’s Mayor is taking the town, it’s Board of Adjustment, and a property owner, to court.

KUOO Radio reports that Mayor Steve Anderson is asking a judge to overturn a variance the city’s Board of Adjustment granted in September of this year relaxing setback requirements on some property on 10th Street in Milford.

In a petition filed in Dickinson County District Court, Anderson contends the board’s action “affects the ability of the city to conduct proper maintenance, snow removal and/or at a higher cost to the citizens and taxpayers of the city”. The suit also contends the action doesn’t comply with city ordinances, Board of Adjustment regulations and city code, and that the property owner who requested the variance didn’t show hardship.

A hearing on the matter is set for 2:00 pm December 9th in Dickinson County District Court.
