Sheldon and Sioux Center, Iowa – Northwest Iowa Community College (NCC) is excited to offer a new series of Career Academy Summer Workshops during June and July at the Sioux Center Career Academy, located at 1382 4th Ave NE, in Sioux Center.
These fun, hands-on workshops give students a glimpse into real-world careers and college life—all while exploring engaging topics in a supportive environment.
Workshops run from 9:00 a.m. to11:30 a.m. on select Tuesdays and Thursdays and are open to students in grades 4th through 12th, depending on the session. Attendees may register for one camp or all.

- The Next Step (Grades 9–12)
Tuesday, June 3
Prepares recent high school grads for college life. Topics may include time management hacks, dorm room essentials, and staying healthy on a meal plan. - Fire Up the Welding Torch (Grades 9–12)
Tuesday, June 17
Explore MIG vs. TIG welding, safety procedures, and job opportunities through simulators and demonstrations. - Health Science Discovery Museum (Grades 4–7)

Dive into the world of healthcare with hands-on activities using real medical equipment. - Educators Rising (Grades 9–12)
Thursday, June 26
Discover the impact educators make and explore classroom tools, technology, and strategies. - Rube Goldberg Fantasy Camp (Grades 9–12)
Tuesday, July 8
Design elaborate machines to complete simple tasks in this fun and creative challenge. - Wiring it Up (Grades 9–12)
Tuesday, July 15
Try basic electrical wiring, including the challenge of lighting a bulb with a potato—just like on The Big Bang Theory. - Tech Camp (Grades 9–12)
Tuesday, July 22
Learn about careers in coding, cybersecurity, and ethical hacking.

- A minimum of 10 participants is required to run each camp.
- A $5 registration fee per camp is due the morning of the event and covers snacks and supplies.
