New Sioux County Emergency Management Director Starts Wednesday

Orange City, Iowa — Sioux County has a new Emergency Management Director.

Outgoing Emergency Management Director Nate Huizenga tells us about him.

Huizenga says he’ll help De Kruyf get started.

De Kruyf also served over 16 years as a dispatcher for the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.

Huizenga will continue to be employed by Sioux County, but not in the Emergency Management Agency. He has been employed for several years as a Sioux County Sheriff’s Deputy and for the past few years as chief deputy. Sheriff Jamie Van Voorst says the county is growing, and the chief deputy’s duties are increasing, so they decided that Huizenga needed to devote full-time work to the sheriff’s office.
