Ocheyedan, Iowa — An Ocheyedan man has been arrested on felony drug charges after a search warrant was carried out at his home this week.
According to a criminal complaint filed with the Osceola County Clerk of Court’s Office by the county sheriff’s office, 39-year-old Jeremiah Hormel of Ocheyedan is accused of the possession of marijuana with intent to deliver. He was arrested on Monday.
In his statement, the deputy says that during the search, several illegal items were located including drug paraphernalia, baggies, a tray with green plant material consistent with the appearance and odor of raw
marijuana, and a Mason jar full of marijuana plant material. He says the plant material in the jar field tested positive for marijuana and weighed approximately 103 grams.
Hormel was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, and failure to affix a drug tax stamp, both class D felonies. If convicted on either count, Hormel could face up to five years in prison, and possibly ten if he’s also ordered to serve the sentences consecutively.
He faces a preliminary hearing on the charges on July 15th.
At last report, Hormel remained in the Osceola County Jail in Sibley in lieu of a $5000 cash or surety bond.
