Sheldon, Iowa — An Ocheyedan woman was taken to the hospital following a single-vehicle mishap northwest of Sheldon Monday morning (July 14th).
According to O’Brien County authorities, the crash occurred near 300th and McKinley about 10:30 Monday morning. Deputies say 34-year-old Mariana Garcia, of Ocheyedan, was southbound on McKinley Avenue when she reported dozing off, crossing the centerline and entered the east ditch, impacting the ditch and a driveway before coming to rest on the south side of the residence at 3030 McKinley Avenue.
According to the accident report, Garcia’s 2006 Pontiac sustained an estimated $6,000 in damage.
Garcia was taken to the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center by the Sheldon Community Ambulance Team for treatment of her injuries.
Deputies say Garcia was cited for Failure to Maintain Control, as well as Failure to Maintain or Use Safety Belts.
