(KIWA Staff Photo)Sanborn, Iowa — A Sanborn teen was taken to the hospital after a crash in Sanborn on Thursday, October 1, 2026.
The Sanborn Police Department reports that at about 12:55 p.m., 36-year-old Brittany Schmidt of Sanborn was driving a 2011 Ram pickup northbound on O’Brien Street in Sanborn. They tell us that 16-year-old Trinity Tovar of Sanborn was eastbound on West 6th Street in a 2015 Toyota.
The report says that Tovar struck the Schmidt pickup in the middle of the uncontrolled intersection.
The Sanborn Ambulance took Tovar to Sanford Sheldon Hospital.
Schmidt’s Ram pickup sustained $3,000 in damages, and Tovar’s Toyota sustained $5,000 in damages.
