Spencer, Iowa — Seasons Center for Behavior Health has received a $1,911 grant from Variety – The Children’s Charity of Iowa to support improvements to the playground at Autumn’s Center.
The funding will be used to purchase shade structures, an outdoor picnic table, and games for the play area, creating additional opportunities for outdoor recreation, social interaction, and therapeutic activities for children receiving services at the center.
Autumn’s Center is preparing to reopen after being closed for the past two years because of flood damage. They say the playground improvements will complement updates being made to the facility and help create a welcoming environment for children and families.
Stephanie Pohar, Vice President of Marketing and Fund Development at Seasons Center, says creating a supportive and welcoming environment is an important part of the care provided at Autumn’s Center. She adds that the additions will give children more opportunities for outdoor play, social connection and emotional growth while receiving services.
The outdoor space is reserved for Autumn’s Center clients and is designed to support therapeutic play, emotional regulation and overall well-being. The enhancements are intended to give children additional opportunities to build relationships, practice social skills, and develop healthy coping strategies.
Autumn’s Center provides specialized mental health services for children and young adults as part of Seasons Center for Behavioral Health.
