Sheldon High School Project Continues

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon High School construction and renovation project continues. We talked recently to Sheldon Superintendent Cory Myer, and he tells us why the project was needed.

Myer takes us through the phases and what they entailed, starting with phase one.

He tells us about phase two.

Myer tells us what phase three is all about.

He explains phase four.

Myer says there were a couple of big factors in the construction design besides the age of the infrastructure. He says nowadays they need to teach much more than the standards people expected 50 years ago, and they need to help other kinds of students, some of whom wouldn’t have been able to attend Sheldon High School if they had been around 50 years ago. Another big factor was the Americans with Disabilities Act. What seemed like a good idea back then, we now see were obstacles for people with disabilities.
