Sheldon, Iowa — A little over eight minutes. That was the entire run-time of the Sheldon City Council meeting on Wednesday evening, August 21st.
At the meeting, Mayor Greg Geels administered the oath of office to Sheldon Police Sgt. Eric Meinecke, who will be serving as Sheldon’s Interim Police Chief until a permanent chief can be found and hired.
The council approved the consent agenda, which included several items. Click here for more information.
Next, they held a public hearing seeking any comment on the Consolidated Urban Revitalization Plan, but no one stood to speak, and no written comments were mentioned. The council went ahead and approved the plan.
In the reports section of the meeting, City Manager Sam Kooiker noted that about 70 people had signed up as of Wednesday evening for the annual cleanup week. He says the deadline to sign up is September 10th, and the cleanup will begin the week after that.
Public Works Director Todd Uhl gave updates on the Oak Street project and other matters.
And Sheldon Chamber and Development Corporation Executive Director Tania Herrera Gonzales reminded the public that volunteers are still needed for Celebration Days, which get underway next week.
