Sheldon, Iowa — The month of September was much wetter and a little warmer than normal in Sheldon.
According to the weather facts collected by KIWA Radio, the highest high was 93 degrees, recorded on September 4th. The lowest high temperature was 57 degrees, recorded on September 21st.
The lowest low in the month was 46 on September 12th. The highest low was 72 on September 3rd.
The average high for the month was 74. The normal is also 74. The average low was 58. The normal is 49. The average temperature as-a-whole for the month was 66 degrees, and normally it’s 61.5.
Of course the big news is the precipitation. We received 7.53 inches of rain for September. A normal September sees just 1.9 inches, so we were above normal for the month by 5.63 inches. Year-to-date precip has been 25.08 inches. Normal year-to-date precip by the end of the month would be 22.7 inches, so we’re 2.38 inches above normal on the year.
