Sioux Center Apartment Damaged In Early Sunday Fire

Sioux Center, Iowa — An apartment building was damaged in a fire on Sunday, February 22, 2026, in Sioux Center.

According to Sioux Center Fire Chief David Van Holland, at about 2:40 a.m., the Sioux Center Fire Department was called to the report of a fire alarm at Center Apartments on Highway 75, .

When they got there, the chief says they arrived to find heavy smoke coming from one apartment. He says the Ireton and Orange City fire departments were also paged, but the Sioux Center firefighters had the fire knocked down before the other departments could get set up, so they went back home. He tells us they ventilated the building and extinguished the fire, which involved a bed in a bedroom.

Van Holland reported no injuries.

He says the cause of the fire was under investigation at last report.

Chief Van Holland reports that the damage was basically limited to the one unit.

He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about an hour.
