Sioux Center, Iowa (Sioux County Radio) — A Sioux Center bicyclist was taken to the hospital after a collision with a pickup in a Sioux Center parking lot Wednesday afternoon.

The Sioux Center Police Department says the crash occurred at about 2:10 p.m. in a parking lot along 7th Street Northeast.

According to police, Micah John Vande Hoef of Sioux Center was driving a 2020 GMC pickup northbound through the parking lot. Arlin Glen Vander Weide, also of Sioux Center, was riding a bicycle westbound out of a parking space.

Police say Vander Weide pulled out in front of the pickup and was struck by the vehicle.

The Sioux Center Ambulance transported Vander Weide to Sioux Center Health with suspected minor injuries. Vande Hoef was not injured.

Police listed failure to yield the right-of-way by the bicyclist as a contributing factor. No citations were listed in the report.
