Sioux Center, Iowa (Sioux County Radio) — A Sioux Center man is facing two felony charges after police say he assaulted his teenage daughter during an argument Friday evening.

Wytse Theodoor Aalbers, 56, was arrested by the Sioux Center Police Department and charged with willful injury causing bodily injury and child endangerment resulting in bodily injury. Both charges are Class D felonies.

According to criminal complaints filed in Sioux County District Court, the incident occurred at about 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 16th at a Sioux Center residence.

Police say a 16-year-old girl reported that her father forcefully shoved her onto a couch during a verbal argument before placing his hands around her neck and applying pressure that restricted her breathing.

The girl reported pain and difficulty breathing following the incident. Officers documented fresh red marks and bruising on her neck, which they said were consistent with pressure being applied to her throat.

According to the complaints, Aalbers told investigators he lost control of the situation and acknowledged deliberately placing his hands around his daughter’s neck.

Jail records show Aalbers was arrested Oct. 16th and released the following day after posting bond. His bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety.
