Lake Park, Iowa — A Sioux Center teen was killed and a Sheldon teen was critically injured after an accident near Lake Park on Saturday, July 6, 2024.
The Iowa State Patrol reports that at about 10:10 p.m., 18-year-old Teagan Vos of Sheldon was driving a 2019 Kia northbound on M27, about a third of a mile south of Lake Park.
The report says that Vos failed to negotiate a curve in the road to the northeast, crossed the center line, and went into the northwest ditch. It says Vos lost control and her Kia overturned. It continued north, crossing 131st Avenue and ended up in the north ditch of 131st Avenue.
A passenger in the car, 19-year-old Edith Lupercio-Lopez of Sioux Center died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The Lakes Regional Healthcare Ambulance took Vos to Lakes Regional Healthcare Hospital in Spirit Lake.
The trooper says the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office and Lake Park emergency responders assisted with the response to the accident.
