Larchwood, Iowa — A Sioux Falls woman has been arrested on a warrant for a felony money laundering charge after an incident at the Grand Falls Casino near Larchwood in June.
A criminal complaint filed by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) in district court accuses 22-year-old Paige Meyer of Sioux Falls of gambling with stolen money in June of this year. She was arrested on Monday.
In his statement, the agent says Meyer and her accomplice were the suspects in a robbery of the 777 Casino in Sioux Falls. Further investigation showed them at Grand Falls shortly thereafter, where they played around $4000 in slot machines. That money is alleged to be some of the cash taken in the Sioux Falls robbery, gambled as an attempt to conceal or disguise the source of money.
Meyer was charged in Iowa with money laundering, a class C felony. If convicted, she could face up to ten years in prison. That’s in addition to any time she may receive if convicted of any charges in South Dakota.
A preliminary hearing has been set for October 23rd in Lyon County Court.
At last report, Meyer remained in the Lyon County Jail in Rock Rapids in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
