Ireton, Iowa– An Akron man was taken to the hospital after an accident near Ireton on Wednesday, October 30, 2024.
The Iowa State Patrol reports that at about 11:20 a.m., 73-year-old Robert Harris of Hudson, SD was driving a 2004 Peterbilt semi owned by Van Berkel Farms of Sioux Center, northbound on Dipper Avenue, two miles south and three west of Ireton. They tell us that 71-year-old Robert Bouwman of Akron was driving a 2005 Volvo van.
The preliminary report says that it was a driveway-related accident, and that the Bouwman van rolled, due to an alleged failure to yield by Harris, but does not list the details of what happened.
The Ireton Ambulance took Bouwman to Hawarden Regional Health Hospital.
Damage to the vehicles is not listed at this time.
Harris was charged with failure to yield upon entering a through highway.
