Sanborn, Iowa– A Spencer teenage girl was taken to the hospital by ambulance after a crash in Sanborn recently.
The Sanborn Police Department reports that 16-year-old Hunter Daggett of Hartley was driving a 2008 Pontiac westbound on West 4th Street in Sanborn. They tell us that 16-year-old Rayne Tesch of Spencer was also westbound on West 4th behind Daggett in a 2011 Chevy SUV.
The report says that the vehicles had been driving from Sibley erratically. The officer says that they continued to drive in a careless manner as they entered Sanborn. He says Daggett turned onto 4th Street. Tesch turned behind him and attempted to pull alongside him. Daggett attempted to turn left (south) into an alley, but the Tesch vehicle was beside him, and the vehicles collided, causing the Daggett Pontiac to strike and break a utility pole.
The Sanborn Ambulance took Tesch to Sanford Sheldon Hospital. A passenger in the Dagget vehicle was taken by a parent to Sanford Sheldon. Daggett was not injured.
Daggett’s Pontiac sustained $3,500 in damages, and Tesch’s Chevy SUV sustained $4,500 in damages. The utility pole owned by the City of Sanborn was valued at $500.
No charges had been filed at the time of the report.
