(KIWA Staff Photo)Iowa (RI) — Iowa is heading into a steamy Labor Day weekend, as the Extreme Heat Warning has been extended through Saturday night for 13 southeast Iowa counties, including Davenport, Iowa City, and Burlington.
Meteorologist Mark Debruin at the National Weather Service says much of southern, central, and eastern Iowa remains under a Heat Advisory, with highs in the 90s and triple-digit heat indices expected today and tomorrow.
Several Iowa high schools plan to delay kickoff times for tonight’s football games due to the heat. Fans heading to tomorrow’s season openers for both the Cyclones and the Hawkeyes will need to be prepared to sit in the sweltering sun.
The University of Iowa says fans may bring unlimited sealed water bottles and empty refillable bottles into Kinnick Stadium, and about 4,000 refillable bottles will be distributed at Gates A, B, and M.
