Sutherland Man Faces Felony Sexual Assault Charge

Sutherland, Iowa — A Sutherland man has been arrested on a felony sexual assault charge.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the O’Brien County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Sutherland Police Department, 34-year-old Devon Jones of Sutherland is accused of assaulting and sexually assaulting his cohabitating girlfriend. He was arrested on Thursday.

Jones was charged with third-degree sexual abuse, a class C felony. If convicted, he could face up to ten years in prison. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of domestic abuse assault.

He faces a preliminary hearing on the charges on November 7th.

Jones was booked into the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar and was released on Monday after posting bond.
