Paullina, Iowa — A stack of hay bales was destroyed in a fire on Monday, May 4, 2026, near Paullina.
According to Paullina Fire Administrative Chief Ryan Harper, at about 8:30 p.m., the Paullina Fire Department was called to the report of a haystack fire north of Roorda Dairy on Oak Hill Avenue, nearly five miles west of Paullina.
When they got there, he says the fire department saw a stack of large square bales fully involved in fire. He says they started fire suppression on the fire. The dairy brought in equipment to take the hay stack apart and spread it out on an open field.
Administrative Chief Harper reported no injuries to people, pets, or livestock.
The fire department was assisted by firefighters from Granville and Archer and EMTs from the Paullina Ambulance Squad.
No cause of the fire was specified in the report.
No other damage was reported.
Harper says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about two hours.
