Rock Rapids, Iowa– A George man and two of his passengers were taken to the hospital after an accident near Rock Rapids on Sunday, April 28, 2024.
The Iowa State Patrol reports that at about 8:20 p.m., 35-year-old Jay Hosler of George was driving a 2013 Kia SUV eastbound on 210th Street or A34, six miles south of Casey’s in Rock Rapids and two east.
The report says that just east of Hickory Avenue, something happened with the vehicle’s steering at which time the SUV went to the right. Hosler turned to the left. The vehicle left the traveled portion of the roadway and went airborne off the shoulder landing in the ditch. It went through the field fence and came to rest facing eastbound in the field on the north side of 210th Street. Airbags did deploy, according to the report.
The Lyon County Ambulance took Hosler and two passengers, 41-year-old Misty Hosler and 13-year-old Nataiya Gribble, both of George, to Avera Merrill Pioneer Hospital in Rock Rapids.
Hosler’s Kia SUV sustained $4000 in damages, which totaled the vehicle.
Hosler was charged with failure to maintain control.
