Northwest Iowa — Strong thunderstorms rolled through Northwest Iowa early Sunday morning, with winds causing damage and knocking out power to hundreds of residents.
In Hospers, the Sioux County Sheriff issued a no-travel advisory through Sunday morning because of several downed trees and power lines that took out power in the town. A tree blocked the roadway at Jackson Avenue and 330th Street, about three miles southwest of Boyden. Granville and Le Mars also had extensive tree damage and power outages.
Sioux County Emergency Management Director Nate Huizenga tells us more.
He says there were a few reports of structural damage as well.
On Sunday night, MidAmerican Energy reported that power was restored to Northwest Iowa, after over 1,000 were without power on Sunday.
