Two sent to the hospital after a motor vehicle accident north of Sioux Center

Sioux Center, Iowa – Two people were taken to the hospital after a motor vehicle accident north of Sioux Center, Friday, Feb. 14th.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office tells us that they investigated the accident that occurred on Highway 75, two miles north of Sioux Center. Jefrin Lopez, age 22, of Hawarden, was driving a 2009 Toyota Camry southbound. Fidencio Ruiz, age 31, of Rock Valley, was driving a 2010 Toyota Camry northbound. Lopez crossed the center of the roadway and struck Ruiz.

Both parties were transported by the Sioux Center Ambulance to Sioux Center Health for treatment of their injuries.

Both Toyotas each sustained approximately $10,000 in damage.

Lopez was cited for driving with no valid driver’s license and failure to yield half of the roadway. Ruiz was cited for driving with no valid driver’s license.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Sioux Center Police Department, the Sioux Center Fire Department, and the Sioux Center Ambulance.
