Vehicle Strikes House In Hospers, Driver Taken To Hospital

Hospers, Iowa — A Sioux City man was taken to a hospital after his vehicle struck a house in Hospers on Friday night.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that just before 8:00 p.m., 35-year-old Mario Alcaraz of Sioux City was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Cruz southbound on Highway 60. Alcaraz reported he experienced a medical condition. He then lost control of the vehicle, which left the roadway and struck a home on Sunrise Drive.

Damage to the Chevrolet was estimated at $13,000. Damage to the home was estimated at $100,000.

Alcaraz was transported to Orange City Area Health for treatment of his medical condition and injuries sustained in the accident.

The sheriff’s office reports that the Iowa State Patrol, Hospers Fire Department, and the Hospers Ambulance Squad assisted them with the response to the accident.
